The Third q-bio Summer School: Essential information
From Q-bio
- Los Alamos is at an elevation of about 7500 ft (almost 2500 meters). Coupled to a very dry climate, this altitude may present problems for some visitors. Drink a lot of water and limit physical activities.
- Temperatures range from 90F (30C) or hotter at midday to sometimes barely above freezing at night. Plan accordingly. Rain and lightning strikes are definite possibilities in the afternoons because of the North American Monsoon, and the sun is often very cruel (remember our latitude and altitude). Sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats are highly recommended.
