Q-bio:Mathematical modeling of gene regulation

From Q-bio
Brief description
Lecture 1 (Design Principles) of the Gene Regulation Unit is a prerequisite for this project.
Students will select a prokaryotic transcription factor and develop mathematical models of its activity. Ideally a system will be be chosen that is the subject of active experiments in the lab of the student or elsewhere. Alternatively a well-characterized system in the literature may be chosen, e.g., from systems documented at the EcoTFs web site. The model will be exercised according to the available experimental data and interests of the student: possibilities include Bayesian parameter estimation; and analysis of structure-function relations.
