Partial Least Squares Regression for the Discovery of New Biology
From Q-bio
The biological sciences are transforming from being “data poor” to “data rich”. Experimental methods are advancing so as to provide unprecedented access to the genome, the transcriptome, the proteome and the metabolome. Partial Least Squares Regression is a tool that empowers both experimentalists and the computational biologists to develop a coarse grained understanding of complex biological processes such as those that occur during cell fate determination in response to external stimuli or to developmental cues. This tutorial will provide students/attendees with an understanding of the basics of its application and its utility in motivating novel biological hypotheses.
