Three Attendance Options

Students can choose from two different attendance types:

The 2022 UQ-Bio Summer School will offer three types of participation as described below:

  • On-Campus Full Participant — Students selected for full participation will stay on campus at the Colorado State University and will have full access to all elements of the summer school. This will include daily lectures, eight hands-on tutorials, several mentored problem sessions and hack-a-thons, laboratory tours, career discussion panels and more. Full Participants are expected to attend all events (Monday through Saturday) from June 1 through June 17. Students should expect about 6 hours of structured activities per day, in addition to unstructured journal club discussions and project collaborations. Registration, lodging (double-occupancy dorm), and meals are free for all undergraduate student participants. A fee of $500 will be charged for graduate students (waivers available for students without access to research funding). Participation is limited to 30 students. Limited funds are available to support US domestic airfare for students with financial need. Full Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the conclusion of the program.  Selection for full in-person participation will be based upon the students (1) completion of previous coursework in mathematics and computation, (2) a brief statement of interest, and (3) a brief statement of commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in STEM.
  • Online Participant — Registered online participants will have access to all live and recorded seminars, tutorials and career discussion sessions. Online participants will have access to extended workbooks (one for each of eight tutorials) that include example problems and project suggestions. These workbooks are intended to help with self-study to master the methods and software introduced throughout the program. Online participation is free.

Registration for online participation is free.

Lodging (double-occupancy dorm, 17 nights, May 31 – June 17) and most meals are free for all undergraduate student participants. Students can upgrade to single occupancy for a fee of $320.

Lodging and meals (17 nights) are available to graduate students for a fee of $500 (waivers available for students without access to research funding).

Lodging will be located in the dormitories of the CSU campus.  Meals will be held in the CSU dining commons. Most meals are included except for Saturday and Sunday; these are available for a small fee (waivers available).
